    its for the same model.

Ive figured it out to be a ribbon problem. if i could just replace the ribbon i could fix this. It seems i cant find a replacement with backlights like the originalso changing the ribbon would be best if i want to keep the back lights

You can't replace the ribbon connector, you need to buy a new keyboard. It is likely a ZIF, if G53 follows the same thing as G73.

what does ZIF stand for? oh crap... i guess no more backlights..this is so sad to hear. any ideas on where to buy one with backlights that has no risk of getting scammed?

What about getting a new keyboard and just use the old frame and lights with the new one. like a transplant? is that possible?

Technically it stands for something like "Zero Insertion Force", but I've found ZIF to be synonymous with rubbish. As you've found out, they're really easy to break, and, for whatever reason, always require more force than zero.

yeah, breaks easily actually!! i've never realy handled them with much force. i only touch them when i remove the cables for some vent cleaning once every two months. they're pretty fragile.

Anyway, know any certified keyboard replacement seller sites?
