    I plan to change my Inspiron 8600c keyboard for an 8600 with the eraserhead. Has anyone had trouble with their keyboards concerning drivers? I plan to reformat after the change, and I need to know if the drivers need to be downloaded.

    Completed mods:
    GPU cooling (100°C->75°C)
    Mods in progress:
    8600c to 8600 keyboard swap (to get the eraser head).
    Tweaks: Radeon 9600 pro (337/242) at 400/300

    Not sure if it's possible, the nessesary connections may have been physically removed from the motherboard. good luck.

    and just curious, how did you do your GPU cooling mod? you stick a fan in there?

    No, it was actually much easier than that. I used this guide. http://www.bay-wolf.com/8500videoheat.htm It can actually be done on any notebook. You basically replace Dell's sub-par thermal wax with copper and silver compound.

    I know it's a way old post, but hey... I just did the keyboard swap last weekend and the tracking stick works fine. The drivers the laptop comes with work, so if you mean reformat and then install the original software from the cds, it should work.
