Those of you that have the HB112, I need dev/HW ID's from the Device Manager.

Awesome, thanks guys. I'll probably pick it up then. Not sure about the whole pcie mini converter, I'm assuming that's to do with the actual part that connects to the laptop? I guess I can wait until I get both the laptop and the wifi card to see if I'll need this converter.

Ok, I will supply the numbers once it arrives. Are some of the numbers on the card itself?

Some wifi cards are half- mini and full mini. Half mini needs an adapter to fit a full mini.

All I need is in Device Manager. :)

The true Killer 1103 alternative is the half-mini or HB112. Most laptops today don't have full-height card slots anyway... except business notebooks.

Hmm, I just noticed it says the condition is "used." But there's been more than 40 sold so has there been completely new ones that he's sold or are they all just labelled used? Was yours "used" as well SPECTRE? To be honest, as long as it works, I'm not too fussed either way but wouldn't mind confirming.

Yes, it is used. I did however order mine from a guy in Florida instead of getting it from China. Eitherway it should be good.

H.A.L. 9000, i'm still using an Asus G51VX-A1, it has a full-mini pcie slot. So I had to get the little adapter for the half-mini. Can't wait to try this thing out. I heard that the reference atheros drivers are no slouch either.

My 9130 came a few days ago so I just bought the card from ebay. I can post device ID #s then and hopefully someone more technologically savvy than I may be able to mod the drivers? Will also post about generic Atheros drivers and performance there as well when the card comes.

    Here they are!

    PCI\VEN_168C&DEV_0030&SUBSYS_1627103C&REV_01
    PCI\VEN_168C&DEV_0030&SUBSYS_1627103C
    PCI\VEN_168C&DEV_0030&CC_028000
    PCI\VEN_168C&DEV_0030&CC_0280

Mine came in a few days ago, I went ahead and installed it in my laptop and downloaded the Atheros drivers from HP's website. It is pretty fast in its base configuration, but I can't wait to see what the Killer Mod will do, since Killer drivers by-pass the windows network stack. If you want the Atheros drivers for this card, go to HP's website, go to the driver downloads page, and search for drivers for any of the G62 or G73 laptops that used this card. Then under networking adapaters category you will see a driver for your card.

Thanks Spectre, but I've already downloaded the drivers from somewhere. I think there was another thread on this topic (which actually linked me to this thread) so I've got them. Just waiting on the card to come. Will probably be at least 2 weeks though.

but, do the "Atheros AR5BHB112 / AR9380" have the same wifi signal strength as the killer 1103?

As far as I can tell it does! My signal is consistant all around my house. I'm connecting to my router at 300mbps. I don't have a 450mbps router yet, but I will upgrade soon! As I can tell it is pretty fast with the stock drivers!

Sorry guys to bring this back up but can anyone drop a link with the modded driver or any instructions to get the inf from the killer driver package?

My card is the full height one XB112 :)

    Thanks!

    Luis

EDIT: i managed to find the dell driver package for the killer cards they install on their laptops... it should be the same right? The good thing is that i was able to extract the exe and find the infs and setup. i should be ok right ?

I got a question.. since the killer software has been acting up on people.. could you do this in reverse and use the oem software from the card manufacture? and if so is there any difference in performance?

Anyone kind enough to share the moded driver? Anyway, i as able to get the inf from the Dell drivers and just forced install as a killer 1103. It works pretty flawlessly but i do not have any software layer to prioritize bandwidth. I also changed the device hardware ids to the match my AR5BXB112 but no noticeable effect, still no software layer after trying to install the manager from bigfoot.

Any help is much appreciated :D

You don't need to mod the inf to install, can just force it by using have disk option. You can get the newest driver/inf in temp folder when you install the one from killer site(just copy it to somewhere else). To get the software installed, you need to find out what it is checking which probably involve some(or alot) of coding knowledge.

Reason I never posted up the end result was that the Atheros drivers were MUCH more stable and since it was just the inf, Windows manages it's own connections much better than the Killer software would. I HATE 3rd party software controlling my WiFi.

I figured as much based on earlier comments. I got the OEM (non killer version)card just because min is out dated and the OEM is decent quality. seems the only thing Killer has going for it is the reduced ping on the desktop variants.

I saw that while googling. as far as I ca tell that is just a table with no DL links.

    EDIT: these might work.

    http://translate.google.com/transla...a=X&ei=zjLIUOSvJonE2gX-8YD4CA&ved=0CDAQ7gEwAA

this one says win 8 driver but, i think it might just be repackaged win 7 drivers.

    http://drivers.softpedia.com/get/NE...80-WLAN-Driver-300119-for-Windows-8-x64.shtml

EDIT:EDIT: never mind, i guess not. the first link has no dl, just jumps back to the same page and the second is a cab file with a weird name.

Well, no issues with performance. Think i'm picking up a signal/connection from next door so i'm guessing the signal may have improved. Probably miles better than the stock 5920G wifi.

EDIT: the old was an Intel 3945AGB.
