    Hi All,

I saw a RAM on newegg which looks to be the lowest latency for DDR2-800. However the reviews are pretty controversial as a lot of people complained about the incompatibility issues.

Has anybody here tried it with the PM45 chipset? I would be very much interested in a CPU-Z screenshot of the Memory tab.

    Thank you,

I'm using the CL5 version , It should work in yours without issues.

PM45 and GM45 should be fine. The issues I've seen on NewEgg are older chipsets such as the Intel 965 or Santa Rosa etc. The 45's are designed for up to DDR3 1066 so Cas4 should be no real issue.

If you already have 4 gigs of ram though it really isn't worth just lowering the Cas. Not unless your apps are very memory limited or are attempting gaming on a shared memory system.

    Just for the record:

This RAM is NOT compatible with my laptop which has PM45 chipset. It is running fine with OCZ 2x2GB DDR2-800 RAMs however.

I have tried running single stick at a time and it was a no go. I cannot see anything on the screen, no POST messages. Only the power led is on and the CPU fan is running. No sign of life otherwise.

Just wanted to warn you about it. I will be returning it back to newegg tomorrow.

WOW, I would have thought the PM45/GM45 would have no issue with this ram. Kingston has some real issues with this RAM then if it can't run on the most modern of chipsets designed to take DDR2 800..........

I suspect that it requires more current than the RAM slot standards.

Some reviews were claiming that this RAM is running pretty hot compared to CL5 ones. Probably the machine is not able to support the current required by these chips. Otherwise, technically it should be working fine.

If that is the case then it sn't the chipset but the main boards ability to supply power possibly above the standard. I see you have a T9900 and then maybe that draws alot of the power from the Rail the memory needs. Out of curiosity did you try battery only boot as sometimes the battery can supply more on demand amps?

I have heard the same that these run a bit warm, if that is the case as I said before Kingston has some real issues with this ram..........

Nope, I haven't tried with battery. Laptop was running out of AC.

ramgen, just return it and cut your losses. I'm surprised someone hasn't said this yet, but TANWare was on the right track when he said you weren't going to see much difference. It's even worse than what he said. There would be absolutely no difference in performance by lowering the memory's cas timing by one, so you were just forking over some dough to Kingston and Newegg with nothing to show for it anyway.

I used CL4 HyperX for my Acer Ferrari 1200, worked fine without problems.
