I ran HD Tune for both Kingston SSD and WD Scorpio Black. The transfer rate of Kingston SSD seems to be fine, but the burst rate is very slow and even slower than that of WD Scorpio Black.

I'm using Intel RST driver v10.1046 and Write-caching policy is like this.

Do I need to be concerned about its slow burst rate?
TIA
-
HD tune is really not for SSd's... use Crystaldiskmark benchmark or something... but yeh , u shouldn't get that low burst rates...
-
Yep, I have used Crystaldiskmark and AS SSD before. This entry level Kingston V series SSDs are well known for slow 4k read and write.
From my daily experiences, my laptop is definitely much snappier though. Applications open instantly and games load much quicker than before. And very fast antivirus scanning.
The boot time is fast too.
My reboot time.
So, overall I'm pleased with this Kingston SSD. It just doesn't do well in benchmark programs. -
wll if it works , good.. u might try the below guide to optimise u SSD
http://forum.notebookreview.com/har...sd-performance-tips-underperforming-ssds.html
do the JJB or Stanimax SSD tweak too.. search on the forum for that... -
Thanks for your great advice!

If you want to run CDM again, you can do it at 3x 50 MB to reduce wear.

Thanks for the tip Phil!

The burst rate is just reported inaccurately in HDTune v2.55.
What I would be more concerned about is the way you have your Write Caching policies set. I would un-check the second box on that window. Even if the benchmarks show it is slower.
In actual use, that second box slows down every system I've tried it on (over an extended, real world usage scenario).
Cheers! -
Tsunade_Hime such bacon. wow
Did you update your Chipset drivers? And did you optimize your SSD?

He's running the latest IRST drivers.

That's 'stamatisx' tweak.

Thanks again!

Better test and benchmark it for yourself. -
I guess Kingston's low 4K read and write benchmark scores are due to its Toshiba controller which is based off the JMicron JMF602 controller even though Kingston claims to have solved it with new and improved firmware.
The controller in the SSDNow V Series upgrade bundle is from J-Micron, even though it says Toshiba on it. Kingston engineers have worked closely with their counterparts at both J-Micron and Toshiba over the past six months on this drive. The controller has gone through several firmware changes and more extensive testing. We have solved the lag and stuttering issues that occurred with earlier solid-state drives using this particular controller. Our tests show the V Series is stable and ready to bring to market. - Kingston PR
Indeed, its performance has improved a bit since LegitReview.com tested their Kingston V series SSD about a year ago.

Phil posted a link to an anandtech article comparing SSD's and for general purpose use, the value Kingston SSD's performed admirably (can't find it atm). I bought two of them, and other than their horrible power consumption, they are a great price for performance drive.
Don't worry much about benchmarks. It will only drive you crazy. Good for doing an occasional check but if your system seems to respond well I wouldn't worry much about it. -
BTW, Newegg has shipped out my new replacement Vertex 2 this morning. Hope it works well this time. -
I just shipped my Vertex 2 to OCZ this morning, it was past Newegg return. I expect to get one back in two weeks.
