Okay, I am looking to upgrade the APU in my laptop.
Before I get any "Dude, go buy an SSD if you want better performance" replies, I am upgrading for the higher end graphics processor.
Currently, the laptop has an A4-3300M in it, and I am looking at an A8-3510MX. (Well, I say looking, it's being shipped to me)
Can anyone confirm for me if the BIOS supports it, or not? I'm not too fussed about having to crack the BIOS and add the string to support the A8 chip. The laptop was originally sold with the A6-3420M as the top chip available, so I don't know if the BIOS will work nice with my A8.
Also, another thing I am curious about is if the new chip will allow me to go above 8GB of RAM. I know the Athlon x64 chips used an on-die memory controller, but I am unable to find if the FS1 socket chips do, or what RAM they support if they do.
If the board model matters on the RAM support, it's a PEGATRON CORPORATION TKBSS 1.30, with two DIMM slots.
Thank you all for any help/advice you can give.
(Also, I know about the increased TDP going from the A4-3300M to the A8-3510M)

Good luck with the apu upgrade (sorry, can't help there), but for the RAM? Simply try the biggest, fastest sticks you can return for a full, no-restocking fee refund.
Doesn't matter what the 'specs' say - it has been proven again and again that those spec's can be wrong - and you may possibly be able to enjoy the benefits of more RAM.
As for your 'Dude, get an SSD' comment...
I would be the first to tell you that an SSD doesn't increase the performance/productivity of the system (for the majority of uses).
What it does is impact (greatly) the snappiness the system has.
This cpu upgrade, along with an x64 O/S and the max RAM possible, will give you twice as much performance as you have now.
No SSD can do that (yet*).

Good luck.
