my laptop went through the security check at the airport today.
it was IN the bag when it went through.
after, i opened it and got alot of red lines everywhere on the screen.
the red lines are located on dark colors on the screen.
is it the screen that is broken or the harddrive??
can i install new drivers and get it fixed?
    help anyone?
    thx!

It is hard to say, could you take a picture and post it?

Going through a check-point, did they open it up to examine or anything? More details would be good to have of what happened.

I have seen this happen at LAX a lot. Someone puts their laptop on the xray conveyor belt. However there is a built up of luggage/etc in the xray machine and the belt is still drawing things in. Then one of the bags crushes the laptop.

Luckily for the dude it was a T43 so nothing happened, but Im sure that the added weight of a bag on a laptop without sufficient screen protection would cause some lcd damage.

Also note, the xray machine wont do any damage to the lcd/laptop.

Hmm I went through LAX with a laptop before but when that happened they had individual small containers to place your items in. It was big enough to place a laptop and it prevented other people's items from mushing yours. At worst one container would collide with another so the two container were side by side but would not crush it from the top.
