Not sure if this is the correct section but since it's about hardware I'll post here.

I have a laptop whose LCD has developed a nice black bar in the middle. I connected an external monitor and all is well on that one, so no graphics card issues.

I ordered an LCD and it arrived today but once I took apart the machine I saw that the current LCD is two lamp whereas the one that I ordered is one lamp.

My main question is if the new LCD will work or if I'll need to replace the inverter from one with two outputs to one with one output.

p.s. I went ahead and connected the new LCD but the brightness level is low, which leads me to believe that either the new LCD is malfunctioning or I'll need to find an inverter as well.

probably need the inverter, the one there now was powering 2 lamps so it's power output (per channel) must have been low when compared to one that has to power a single lamp.
