I have a p7801u with a 1920x1200 screen but recently I noticed that it is very dim compared to my new laptop which must be twice as bright. This is also affecting the colors on the laptop as the whites look very yellowish. Plus I get more glare in the sun. Because of this, I am planning to do a bit of repair on my laptop. Can someone tell me what gives a laptop LCD monitor its backlight? Thanks.

If your screen is: GATEWAY P-7801U FX LAPTOP LCD SCREEN 17" WUXGA GLOSSY CCFL $149.99
You need a single ccfl bulb obtainable in ebay, changing the bulb should be carried out in a dust free environment. -
Be very careful as the bulb might contain mercury. The below should be ok.
