I have a p7801u with a 1920x1200 screen but recently I noticed that it is very dim compared to my new laptop which must be twice as bright. This is also affecting the colors on the laptop as the whites look very yellowish. Plus I get more glare in the sun. Because of this, I am planning to do a bit of repair on my laptop. Can someone tell me what gives a laptop LCD monitor its backlight? Thanks.

Be very careful as the bulb might contain mercury. The below should be ok.
