    Hi,
I have this old gateway 4540gz that has worked wonderfully for me for along time. But recently, after leaving it one for 5 days, the back light of the LCD does not come on and its making a buzzing noise. I now its only the back light because I can make out the desktop in a dark room if I look at it closely. Also, I connected it to an external monitor and made sure that everything else works fine. What are my options at this point? can this be fixed? how much will this cost me in Canadian dollars?

Thank you very much for any help that you can provide :)

you can get it fixed by gateway, but it will be quite expensive. probably around $300-400 u.s....almost as much as a new computer. or you can try out screentek:
