    Hello,

I have a question regarding the LCD Power inverter on the ASUS G2P. I have seached the forum but cannot find anything similar am hoping you could help.

It started with the LCD going dark at irregular intervals screen was visible on tilting and perfect on external moniter. lowering/raising the lid solved the problem. When frequency increased I decided to replace the power inverter. Every thing was good for a few weeks after which the same thing started again. Repeated procedure good for a week and same problem. Also ther is now a distinct whining noise around the left side hinge area cannot isolate if from screen or chasis.

Am at a loss what to do, any help is most appriciated.

    Thank You in advance

It seems that the inverter is shorting on something. Remove the inverter, and before you go screw the screws to hold the inverter in, put a piece of non conductive electrical tape on the mounts which hold the inverter, and a piece of each hole the screw goes through. Then punch small holes to allow the screw to go through. This should help keep the inverter running longer, since electricity from the laptop/screen cannot be conducted into the inverter, through teh screws holding the inverter in.

Also check that you connected the inverter all of the way. If the cables are not properly seated than it may not work.

The high pitched noise is probably coming from an onboard voltage controller. If the load is too high, the voltage controller will make a high pitched noise.
