1. If I get a basic LCD monitor for my laptop, will I be able to hook it up to my PS2 (or Wii, maybe)? And how?
2. 20" widescreen LCD monitors - any suggestions for good value/performance offerings? been looking at BenQ FP202W.
Thanks

Dell makes some amazing LCD's, check them out. Also sometimes you can use one of those nifty Dell coupons here to reduce the price.

If you're planning on hooking up a console to an LCD monitor, the monitor will either need a component input, or you will need a video to VGA adaptor. You'll find some suitable items here. A component input would be better (and more expensive), since this will most likely give you a PiP (Picture in Picture) option.
For good value 20" widescreens, you should also look at the Viewsonic vx2025wm and the Samsung 205bw. Neither has video in. -
You'll need the right input as mentioned above.
And dell has pretty good inexpensive monitors if you want high ends, look at Viewsonic and ASUS. -
ok, thanks
I've done a little research and found 2 widescreen 20" LCD monitors with component inputs:
Dell's UltraSharp™ 2007WFP
and
Asus' PW201
here in the UK, both are similarly priced at around £350 with 3 years warranty.
Any thoughts as to which one I should get? Any better alternatives?
thanks again -
The Asus has half the response time, which means it'll probably be better for gaming. The color may not be quite as bright or colors as "correct" though, depending on whether they both do 6-bit colors or what. From a quick glance though, the Asus is a better choice.

I know this will make things more difficult, but Dell tends to overstate their response times... benchmarking the recent revision 2007WFP suggest it performs on par with an 8ms monitor.
I'll admit to being an Asus fanboy, but considering their very similar performance I'd go with the PW201 for the built in webcam and component video input.
