    Hey guys ...
This is what happens when I sometimes activate my laptop from cold start or the screen resumes working from being off from non-use.
Closing/opening the lid a few times solves the issue ... or a plain restart of the system if the closing/opening of the lid doesn't work.

The issue is random, and does not happen on it's own during nominal function (except for today it happened for the very first time when reading this forum ... it went away by closing/opening the lid once).
Temps are fine, there are no artifacts or slowdown problems during gaming or heavy graphics use in general.

Is it possible the gpu is the cause, or the LCD?
I would have leaned toward the LCD being the problem, possibly the video cable (which I checked and is firmly connected) or the connections inside the LCD?
Tried posting this in the thread for Acer 5930G but got mixed replies.
Perhaps someone from here would be able to define the issue a bit better?

I was contemplating on sending the laptop to Acer for repairs ... but their service is horrid in UK apparently and I don't want to risk my laptop being returned damaged for example and whatnot with the original problem being unsolved.
    Suggestions?

I've been having the same problem on my Sager, and at least one other person mentioned seeing it on his 9262 when I posted it in the Sager forum as well. I'd like to find out what is up with this.

Drivers have nothing to do with it.
I've been using different drivers in win 7 (dox 185.85), and this problem appeared when I've been using Nvidia's official drivers (which haven't been changed ... meaning the problem appeared in the midst of using the drivers for some time) in Vista x64.

As I said, the issue is mostly contained to when the computer starts up or the screen re-activates from being turned off for a time of non-use ... but it's also rare (doesn't happen always).

It may be the first signs of GPU failure, if you have an Nvidia 8th generation chip. However, you should also:

    - ensure the video cable is securely plugged in
    - plug in an external monitor to determine whether it is a monitor issue or GPU issue.

One other individual in 5930G thread (Acer section of the forum) mentioned a similar issue.
As of yet, we still don't know the cause.
It might be the gpu, LCD or video cable.
Either way ... if someone had a similar problem in the past ... we might be able to narrow down on what's happening.

I really don't know if the GPU is at fault since no temperature/performance or artifacts present themselves.
The laptop itself is just 8 months old.
I regularly clean out the air vents and temps are stable ... in fact I was able to lower them from a week ago by undervolting both the cpu and the gpu.

I'm suspecting sooner the LCD and/or video cable ... but I'm not entirely ruling out the gpu just yet.

If you check my signature you will see the gpu is 9600m GT.
Supposedly, those shouldn't have the issue the previous generation did (although you never know).

I thought about connecting the laptop to the external monitor, but was unable to find a suitable connector (don't have it with me or an external monitor for now).
But I think I have a friend who might be able to help me out in it.
The video cable I already checked, and it's fine.
