I have just attempted to upgrade the LED LCD screen on my 14'' Asus N43 from 1366x768 to 1600x900 but have run into a slight problem.
Upon starting Windows after installation of the new screen flickering horizontal lines started appearing.
After having logged in, the horizontal lines disappeared but the pixels in the screen where heavily pronounced and the screen had a white haze. Changing the resolution in control panel changed nothing.
Both LCD screens are made by AU Optronics.
Does anybody know why this might be happening?
Is the screen faulty or is it simply a compatibility issue?

Your LCD cable may not be compatible with the screen. You need a 2 channel LVDS cable. 720p screens often come with a 1 channel cable.

Thanks for your reply.
So how would I know from looking at the cable that its a 1 channel LVDS cable? -

Any wires missing from the end that plugs into the monitor. If you have 8 or more gaps in the wiring then you can be sure its single.

I checked the LVDS cable on my Laptop with a magnifing glass and there where no pins missing as far as I could tell.

Not gaps where the pins but the wiring up to the pins. You would have to peel back the covering on the wire around the cable's socket end.
The next question would be can one swap a 1 channel LVDS cable for a 2 channel one? I am guessing it has to plug into the motherboard unless it is soldered in... -
I wonder, what is the highest resolution LVDS 1 channel can support?

The LVDS channel is routed through something else separately.
You would need a TTL panel or converter to use this DVI or HDMI output. -

Thats for the rating of the LVDS communications itself.
