    LCD-related whine/buzz with new lappy -- thoughts?

    Hey all ---- wondering if anyone has any feedback/potential solutions to this issue. The following is more or less the email I sent to Sony tech support:

    So, in short, my computer (brand new) makes a weird buzz under two conditions:
    1. AC Power, screen dimmed (e.g. not at max brightness)
    2. Any screen brightness setting on battery power

    When the LCD is turned off (when I lower the screen lid, for example), the whine stops. When the computer is plugged in and on max brightness, I can lower the screen brightness and hear the whine/buzz kick in ---- if I reset the brightness to max, the whine/buzz goes away.

    I'm going to get on the phone with tech support regarding this later tongiht, but I was hoping the community here might have some feedback for me as well. Hardware problem? OS? BIOS? Other settings?
