Are any of the major manufacturers contemplating the release of such a beast any time soon?

One would think that an LED screen and SSD hard drive would make it possible for a large laptop to still remain relatively light and be a monster performer - the only real weight would be chassis and battery at that point.

Any rumors? Speculation on when we might see something like this in the flesh?

I'd like to think that it would happen soon, but I'm betting this time next year before we see something like this.

    Thoughts?

I wouldn't hold my breath. So far the only LED screens I've heard about in the works are all for ultraportables. The manufacturers that are making SLI/Crossfire platforms aren't worried about weight or battery life really so I think it will be a long time before anyone tries to combine the two. I don't even think you'll see this by the end of next year.
