What is the difference, and if I were to get a Dell M1530 should I get the 1400X900 LED display or the 1900x1200LCD display(on a 15.4 inch monitor would this high of a resolution be noticed?)?

LED is a new technology which does not use mercury and provides various benefits over the standard LCD. I would recommend you to get the 1440x900 LED, since I believe that 1900x1200 is a bit too high for a 15.4" screen.

LED is better than LCD. But if it was my choice, I would get the higher resolution LCD. If your eyes are good, it's nice to have such a high level of detail on a 15.4" screen.

As said above, you do sacrifice resolution. It has lower power draw and as said to have more even light distribution. Less leakage.

i agree with powerpack. also they usually have bette viewing angles and give the system longer battery life. i think 1200p on a 15inch screen is too much.

Have anyone do a comparison between LED display and LCD display on laptop before? The comparison is focus on light leakage and resolution of the display.

Is LED display that power saving as some articles said?

LED provides more efficient backlighting than CCFL, so displays are either brighter and/or use less power. They can also be a bit thinner. The LCD part of the display is the same with both backlighting technologies and this controls the resolution.

There have been some teething problems getting uniform backlighting using LED since it is a series of point sources instead of a small fluorescent tube.

Had I been given the change, I would`ve gotten a LED screen myself. I saw one in person and boy are they ever nice...

1920 is too high in a 15.4" anyway

I would go for the 1920 even on a 15.4" screen. 1440x900 is just too low res now days. 1680x1050 is just about right, but 1920 gives you some extras and you can always adjust the text size if its too small.

You'll also get better resale value out of it with 1920.
