    Hello all,

The screen on my Asus K53TA broke a while ago, and I figured I may as well upgrade it. I'm looking, if possible, to put a 1080p screen in it.

I've found a dual-channel LVDS cable that should be compatible, however I'm not sure if the board can support it. To me, it doesn't look like half of the pins are connected. Can anyone confirm that this is single- or dual-channel? (See the attached photo.)

This forum has taught me so much about even this one thing, kudos for creating such a helpful community.

    Cheers!
    Cole

What about the connector on the cable you got?

If it comes from a different model you MUST check and compare both schematics, otherwise you can fry something. Long time ago a fellow 5920G user did just this, bought a 2ch LVDS cable from 7720G and fried the display and maybe the MoBo as well. The connectors being the same is not enough, the wiring should be the same as well. So unless someone has done it before, you must check your laptop's schematics as well as the other (of which you got the cable) one and compare them. Good luck.

That's a very good point! The connector is from a K73 vs. a K53, but given that it's just an old laptop I'll probably pass on the upgrade. To go back to my original question though; can anyone confirm if the mobo pins are even connected to anything? The traces don't look connected.

    Thanks for the help, guys!

    Cheers!
