I own a HP probook 440 G1. My notebook has a 40 pin LVDS panel. I wan to upgrade my panel IPS/ AHVA or A high gamut TN panel.
AUO B156HW01 v4 is an awesome panel. But its 15.6 inch. Haven't found a 14 inch version. Anyone can suggest a good LVDS panel?

The only good 14" panels I've been able to find have all been ePS. LVDS seems limited to 900p TN panels. AUO B140rtn01.0 and LG lp140wd2-tle1 are the only high gamut panels I've been able to find, but they seem specially designed for the X1 carbon and have different physical specs.

Both the panel has 72% of NTSC and has connector is on the other side. Any good LVDS panel you can suggest that would work for me?

You can try this LG Display model - LP140WD2-TLG1.
- Its a 1600 * 900 14" penel
- IPS Lcd
- Glossy Display
- Though its color gamut is only 45% NTSC
you have to use a dual link lvds cable which you can find as hp probook 470 g1 lcd cable.
and the connector is right side in display penel so its worth give it a shot.Last edited: Dec 31, 2014 -
I have found this guide to replace T430 screen with a LP140WD2(TL)(E2) http://www.thinkwiki.org/wiki/Replacing_T430_screen_with_a_better_one. Can i follow the same instructions for my HP probook 440 G1 ?

It should work as well for your laptop as the T430. The physical dimensions are similar, but the biggest probably is the connector being on the wrong side, followed by the lack of mounting holes.
As the wiki points out, finding a flex adapter that works in the long term is a serious problem, as flex cables are designed for very specific applications and don't take well to abuse. The mounting is still an issue, and this will probably be the biggest difference between the T430 and your laptop. But I bet it can probably be solved with liberal use of Kapton tape.
I think it's worth a shot, but it sounds like there's probably a high risk of failure, including shorting out your motherboard. You also need to make absolutely sure that you have a 2 channel LVDS cable. Just because there are 40 pins doesn't mean all of them are connected.
For myself I'm going to go with the safer option of AUO B140RTN02.1. It's gamut still sucks and it's glossy, but it's got better viewing angles and contrast. Think Macbook Air level of screen. (see http://forum.notebookreview.com/lenovo/682490-x1-display-t430-14.html#post9750070)
Unfortunately LVDS options for 14" screens pretty much all suck. If you really want a good screen get a new laptop with eDP. Much more and much better options with eDP. -
