Hi there.
I have an ASUS eee 1000H which I put an updated 64GB Gskill SSD into. The laptop has been running perfectly (and still is) BUT there is a very strange screeching noise coming from it..! It has been getting worse and worse and now is quite audible and before the only thing I could hear from the laptop was the fan..
It is there all the time but gets worse when I am taxing the notebook by playing youtube flash etc.. It sounds like a noise coming from one of the components inside.. (And it is definitely NOT the Fan making this noise). I haven't got the chance to take it apart and see exactly where the noise is coming from but its from within, right beneath the keyboard.
There is my SSD inside and I know these things don't/aren't suppose to make noise as they have no moving parts etc.. But are they known to make any sort of strange noise at all?? The noise sounds electric, and is irregular and not very constant..![]()

Could be stressing the chipset on the motherboard (and the resulting voltage regulators and such). I also get this with my x61s and Supertalent ME/GX.

I have a Indilinx based Patriot 128gb SSD that does the same thing

Only thing is that I have taken SSD out. It is definitely not the SSD, Ram, Fan or Wifi Card.. The noise is really starting to drive me crazy. It is a really high pitch electronic noise..!
Does knowone have any idea what this may be?? I am thinking that it would be best to just put in a new mainboard...? -

Could it be the LCD making this noise? Or something in the LCD circuit path?

What I might try is buy/borrow/rent a Sound Meter with a flexible microphone tip so that you can point it to specific areas of the motherboard to pinpoint where the sound is coming from.
Even a cheap sound meter from The Source might be enough for you to pinpoint the component that is audible.
Laptop (with 64GbSSD) making weird noise!
