I'm trying to get this laptop hooked up to the TV with this newly purchased HDMI cable. But, it doesn't work. I can dual view it with the VGA cable, but it won't recognize the hdmi. Bad HDMI cable?

If you know anything that could be wrong, please leave some advice.

EDIT: I thought I put this in hardware / components...whatever... no biggy

Have you habilitated it in the Control Panel? I needed to do it to make it work with my TV and my ASUS G1S.

Not only did you use a word out of my dictionary. You also didn't explain precisely how this is done :p. I'll wait for you to reply when you come back on. I feel like I'm missing something, something very simple.

Edit: BTW The driver is updated.

Usually it's really a small detail. In my Control panel, when I set it up to use multiple monitors, there was an option to activate the HDMI port. Don't know if it's your case.

To use it my TV must to be put in HDMI mode too, did you do it in your TV?

I went to the nvidia control panel and it doesn't show an option for a second monitor, meaning it doesn't even recognize it. Yes, The TV is set to hdmi. I think the port may be defective...

I think the Video card's control panel is the only place where it will list an HDMI connection.

Did you try FN + F4 (Or whatever Function key has the symbol of the monitor on it?)

Yes, I was told to do that previously.

This is what I see in the control panel under multiple displays with the HDMI hooked up.. PROPERLY.

When the VGA is hooked up, it does what it is supposed to do (dual view / clone options)

To everyone: I already know how to set the thing up this way, I was just making sure it was the only thing, otherwise the thing is defective someway somehow. The drivers are installed correctly, and they are the right ones found from the hp website. So if there is nothing else, then I have a problem on my hands..

Hmm....Before you give up I would try the laptopvideo2go.com video drivers. These are drivers taken from the desktop variants of the cards and altered to work on laptops.

HP's drivers for the nvidia cards tend to be limited, so if this doesn't work then I would say there may be something wrong with the port itself.
