Hi all,
As soon as I switched on my laptop today, the AC Adapter ( IBM ) burst with a big sound . I was shocked, I had not faced any such problems since I had the Laptop.
I want to know what could be the reason of the explosion .
Could it be the long hour use of the Adapter ?
Thanks a lot,
Lively

Can you take a pictuer of the damage? I want to see! Long hours should not but can damage the adapter. Where you operating in a hot/warm room? IBM or Lenovo should replace it if still under warranty.
I once broke an adapter by stepping on it. It was on the ground and steped on it by accident. Made a loud poping sound and smelled burned but didnt 'explode'. -
They should probably replace it whether under warranty or not. It's a manufacturing failure if an adapter explodes, no matter how long you use one, it's definately not supposed to explode.

Yeah. Definitely get it replaced with Lenovo. I run on a laptop 8 hours a day or more, most of the time on shore power, and have never had that happen. The power supplies do get hot, so don't stick them under a pillow or anything that prevents airflow around them, but even when they get hot, they shouldn't fail like that.

Yup, need pics,

Yes, get Lenovo to look into it. I regularly have my laptop on non-stop for 12-16 hours at a time (depending if I'm on a late night binge) and its been fine. Although my paranoia makes me stand the adaptor lengthways and upright on its side for greater heat dissipation

HaHa I want to see a picture also. I never heard of an adapter exploding.
