    I think it would work fine. Just use some good thermal paste and you're set.

    You need a 2nd gen i7 of course, not first.

    Sandy bridge i7 quads have integrated graphics right?

    Yep, they do so there is no need for a dedicated GPU. The first gen didn't have them.
