Hi, I have 2 questions for 2 different types of laptops

    1. I have a Comal Hel80 and am trying to find out if there is any remote control that I can use with it. I connect the laptop via the s-video cable to my tv and the audio cable to to the RCA audio input jack on the tv and watch video but am a bit lazy and don't want to get up everytime to forward rewind. :) Can someone please suggest if I can use any remote control with this laptop and is it dependant on the application. I would like to primarily use it with DVD applications and winamp when watching some live streaming.

    2. I have another thinkpad t60 laptop. It doesn't have any s-video on it. Are there any pcmcia cards that I can use to connect this via s-video to the tv and also would I be able to get a remote for this laptop as well.

    Thanks for your help.

you can get the expresscard bluetooth remote by interlink electronics. works with wmp, winamp and you can configure bsplayer with the buttons which is my favourite as i watch too many films :) it has lithium polymer battery and charges via expresscard remote. had no problems so far, you should go for it. you can have it from dells website for 10 bucks cheaper

Does your notebook have infra-red? if so, there is a chance that the you can get the HP infra-red remote to work, at least for the basic control functions. I got it to work with my Zepto 6024W.

Another alternative which someone suggested was a Bluetooth-enabled mobile phone with remote control software. I never explored that option.

Did you need a driver? And which model is it?

If you happen to have a Sony Ericson phone you can use that. Connects via bluetooth and you can cutomize the controls to do anything. Its what I used to do before I got my new laptop that comes with a remote.

This suggestion is only valid if you already have a Sony Ericson phone I wouldn;t suggest buying one just to use it as a remote.

Ok I've order an HP IR Remote. The one pointed out in John's thread. I'll keep you updated when it gets here.

The remote was less than $10 Canadian shipped.

Well that HP remote won't do crap on my T60p. I've followed the settings on the other thread.

I'm using XP perhaps XP just doesn't support that kind of functionality.

    Do you have IR?

I just got the Bluetooth Interlink remote which was kind of expensive ($59) but it works fine.

You'd probably be better off just buying a decent DVD player to hook directly to your TV.

Why buy a decent DVD player when I have a Xbox, Xbox 360, PS3, Wii, and PS2?

My thinkpad has IR it just doesn't have a compatible unit to the HP remote.
    It was a $10 shot.
It would just be something cool to have, not important.

I rechecked the HP remote with my Zepto 6024W and found out that it worked fine with XP but no response under Vista. However, the IR remote bundled with the Samsung X60 works with the Zepto under both XP and Vista.

It has something with the driver that's installed. The ehome driver key is based on the searches I've gone through.
