Ok had a laptop written off by a vendor and ive now got a nice new spangly one ASUS G73.

I received the laptop back ( the old one ) and i wanted to try have a go at fixing myself, the faith i have in Compnay X is 0.

When i booted it if i stood under a bright light i could see windows. So this leads be to believe its the LCD back Light, If i sit in the toilet with the light off and a head tourch on i can see it and navigate windows, if i hook it up to an external screen it works fine.

    SO my question

The screen is a 1900x1200 UXGA glossy, my m8 has a broken Dell XPS 1710 with a 1900x1200 UXGA, if the connectors are the same, will it work ? or are there other factors in a laptop that i need to look at ?

    Thanks in advance

    ted

It could be that the screen inverter is out. Its like $15 on eBay. I'd try that first.
