Sager NP2740 Laptop. The sound is very low on my laptop even when i have volume turned on 100%. Many times on youtube as well the sound is very low when its at 100 percent. A while back it was not like this.

Can someone tell me whats the reason for this?

Hard to say. I suggest retrieving the latest sound driver from Sager's support website. Uninstall your sound device (you might have to do this via the Device Manager; Windows Key + R to open the run menu, type 'devmgmt.msc' without the quotes and press Enter), restart the notebook and then install the driver you downloaded.

Not really a solution, but VLC's volume control goes to 200% for files that are very low.

I don't want to take a chance then the sound doesn't work at all after it. Is there a way to test to see if something is wrong with speakers first?

Install the Sound Blaster utility from Sager. It can make a big difference. Otherwise, Sager speakers are not known for the best audio quality or volume. And doing what Mr. Jefferies suggests won't make it stop working at all. Also, make sure the YouTube volume slider is at 100% as well.

Indeed. You likely need the Creative SoundBlaster drivers. Sager has them on their support/downloads section.
