I recently purchased a clevo laptop with onkyo speakers and the sound quality is pretty tinny, not as bad as a netbook or phone but still pretty poor, I am a pretty decent solderer and was wondering what will be in order to replace these speakers with some lenovo jbl speakers, I have checked the specs and the amp in the clevo will be able to drive the speakers. Would I be able to unplug the speakers, cut off the connector (unless the connectors are the same) and solder the connector onto the jbl speakers or is it more complicated than that?. Its been done before in the m11x thread but I`m not sure all laptops have this interface. Also would cutting into the plastic around the drivers affect sound quality or functionality? thanks.
Here are the speakers i intend to use:

I'm not sure of the benefits of this upgrade (at all).
The speakers are the last in the chain to be upgraded in music systems - the source, the pre-amp and the power amp are all much more important than the speakers, ime. In this case, the software EQ and the hardwired EQ also make a difference in the perception of the sound quality.
I would not be cutting up a new system for a different 'flavor' of sound - even it if would possibly be more 'pleasing' to my ears.
It will not be 'better' in an absolute sense, but it may be more to your liking.
But what if it's not? -
thanks, maybe i`ll play it safe and experiment eq settings a bit more
