    Laptop battery charge rate (not as complicated as it sounds)

    I just recently bought a new battery for my laptop. After two years, my original battery was down to 15-30 minutes max.

    Anway, what I would like to know is-

    What is your laptop's battery charge rate? You can use BatteryBar to check. Install the free version of BatteryBar and then hover over BatteryBar in the taskbar while your laptop is charging.

    My laptop seems to charge it's battery at ~24,000 mW.
    After the battery charge is above 90% or so, it will charge at ~8,000 mW.
    Battery capacity is 57,354 mWh. Takes about 2-3 hours to charge.

    While running on battery, the discharge rate at complete idle is ~11,000 mW.
    Theoretically, the battery can last for about 5 hours max. Realistically, more like 3.5 hours.

    Discharge rate for battery at full load is something like 66,000 mW.
    I have come to believe such a strong load on the battery can be damaging.

    Basically, the battery in my laptop seems to like to be charged at ~24,000 mW max, so would it make sense that it might be healthy for the battery to also be drained at a moderate rate of 24,000 mW or less?

    Your thoughts (and battery charge rate result from your own laptop) would be appreciated. :p

    well, part of the design point of a battery is its charge/discharge rate vs desired lifecycle vs new battery cost.

    It's the same figuring that goes into the lifecycle engineering of every complex electronic and mechanical device on the planet.
