I just got back into this notebook stuff after having been away for years. As I continue to get educated by you folks, I found a comparative listing of GPUs on notebookcheck.net . How dependable and accurate is their listings of GPUs?
If accurate, now much faster is say a Class 1 Radeon 7690M versus a Class 2 Radeon 6490M assuming that all else is the same in the notebook?
Thanks!

It's semi-accurate in the sense that it does its "global list" based off averages of benchmarks which will vary a lot system per system (usually because there are different versions of a same GPU using different clocks and bandwidths) so as long as you check their actual benchmarks and not just their global classification you should be ok.
To specifically answer your question it'd be significantly faster AFAIK since IIRC the 7690 is the successor to the 6770M. -

notebookcheck is the only place i know of that has an actual database of benchmarks to check...its always been a creat source to check. Another good way is to check their reviews of laptops with the specs of a laptop your looking at. That way its dead accurate and not an average. Wish there was a desktop verse......

Not only does notebookcheck have theoretical benchmarks, it also has gaming benchmarks. These can be accessed from clicking on the card in question and scrolling down. The aggregated FPS scores from different reviews are displayed for various conditions (ultra, medium, etc.).

You can also go on wikipedia to compare the specs of different graphics cards. It is good for figuring out how good different cards of the same make are relative to one another.
Laptop graphics chips, ratings, and such?
