    Laptop HDD needed asap.

Ok so im buying this external enclosure http://www.amazon.co.uk/Allcam-Lapt...8?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&qid=1188916743&sr=1-5

I just need you guy to recomend a good 80gb-150gb hdd to go inside it.
Also how difficult will it be to put the drive in?
will it work with most laptops and pc's?
Price isn't really an issue as long as it's reasonable.

Im really just looking for a portable external usb hard drive.
somone suggested to me that putting a laptop hd in that enclosure was the best soloution.

Thanks in advance for any help :D.

The 2.5" Seagate's 7.200 rpm's/16mb cache are good and fast, you can either take the 120 or 160Gb matching your spec's (larger ones are available to). Installing it is easy, you just have to connect it to the connector, slide it in the case and close it. Since it has usb 2.0 it will work with any pc or laptop that isn't from the stone ages :)
You didn't put in your flag, but just look for the cheapest store in your country.

Once assembled, this external HDD should work with any laptop or computer.

I used a SeaGate 5400rpm in my old external enclosure and I never had any problem with it. I too would recommend the SeaGate 7200rpm

You'll probably need to format the drive at first.

The biggest hassle could be assembling the HDD into the enclosure. Some enclosure are REALLY badly done while others are a dream to assemble. My old Ultra 3.5 enclosure's guide book should have featured : "hit hard drive connector with a hammer to secure it - Once in place, removal will require acid" ;)

mmmm 2.5" only really seems to go up to 160gb.
i wonder if it would be more sensible to go for a 3.5" instead.
    probally more cost effective.

    Ok everythings done.
I got the 2.5" 7200.2 seagate 120gb for about 50 squid and an enclouser for about 6 quid.

Not a bad little external hd for £60.
thanks for pointing me in the right direction.

I've come to this a bit late, but I hope that you have got both the HDD and the enclosure to be either SATA or IDE (PATA). Otherwise they won't fit together.

If you are not looking for the smallest size of enclosure then this Newlink enclosure is good because it has connectors for both types.
