I've got laptop Acer Triton 500 - i7 8750H / RTX 2080 MAX-Q
Rarely I face a strange issue:
I'm playing the game and suddenly hear system beep sound that AC Adapter was disconnected. The connection between a laptop and an adapter is perfect. If I reconnect it, nothing happens. I have to put out the cord from the wall outlet and connect it back, this turns the adapter on. So for some reason, AC Adapter turns off.
I've tried using it without an external disk driver, just a laptop. Still happens. Tried BIOS updating, driver updating, not using overclock, and so on. One thing didn't try - OS reinstalling.
Any ideas what's going on? A laptop sometimes demands more power then AC can deliver? But why no other user get such an issue? I've got a faulty AC Adapter? This happens extremely rare.
I've played battlefield v, which is a really demanding game and never had such an issue. But was having it in Far Cry New Dawn which is less demanding one. Recently I caught it in Modern Warfare while FPS was locked on 60 (so the laptop was half loaded) so I see no creation between big load and AC turning off.

Does the wall plug that its connect it has PE/Earth pins?
Seems to be a faulty charger, contact Acer for a replacement.vorob likes this. -
I don't think Acer would help since this issue is extremely rare. Don't think they will eat smth like: guys, I've got an issue, in one of ten cases my power supply turns off. Play games for week and you'll notice it -
Just say:
Charger(AC adapter) turns off sporadically while under moderate to heavy load.Papusan and tilleroftheearth like this. -
It could also be the power at the house. If there is a power drop, brown out, the brick may not be able to output the required power.

I have similar problem with 2080 rtx max q,
Under load its loosing AC and drops from AC to battery, randomly going back and forward between AC-BT- my laptop - ASUS GX701GV (i7 8750 - 16gb-2080 rtx max q)
That happened to me one week before the warranty has ended but we were in quarantine, now we already one month after my warranty has ended but they refuse to fix it..
Tried to recover OS from partition - it’s didn’t help.
I was using maximum life span mode on battery in “my asus” app (60% max charge), maybe it’s trigger some fault on the battery or the ac adapter - I’m gonna open the laptop and try to see if I can fix it or maybe will drop it at asus and hopefully they will not charge me 1000 USD for a fix .. (they want 90$) just for the test ( 2 way shipping plus test )
Try to replace your AC adapter and see if that helps , or try to use throttlestop guide and lower the load on the system and see if that helpsLast edited: May 14, 2020 -
Ye, I already bought another AC Adapter since I need a spare one for the office anyway. But my adapter won't go online itself. Have to restart it via replugging power cord from the wall.

It looks like the power supply has to provide under load much more current than it can currently, so it starts overheating and going into thermal protection by shutting down. If it never happened before, that means that the power supply components have aged and are not able to match its specifications anymore. If you can't fix it through warranty, then you should replace your power supply with one that has the same power, voltage and current output rating or higher (the voltage has to be the same though).
Laptop loose AC Adapter under load
