I'm trying to decide which laptop I want, yet I am curious as to what you think about processor speed. Which one should I go with for all my computer needs 2.53 Ghz or 2.80 Ghz. Is that a big difference?

Sony FW 290 is the choice I want to go with but I am just having trouble in deciding because it is a pricey laptop.

Suggestions on a good configuration for a all purpose laptop including gaming components?

Please include names of laptops as well that you see meet the criteria.
My price range is between $1500 - $2000 plus tax. I am willing to buy an extra battery eventually if the battery life is too short. I prefer at least 5 hours.

    Thanks!

All other things held equal, it really won't make a big difference going from 2.53GHz to 2.80GHz. Unless you have loads of cash to burn and nothing else to spend it on, it probably isn't worth it. The difference in battery life probably won't be significant either.

If it is the same series of chips then it won't be a huge difference. However if there is a difference in architecture or chipset it could be very different.
