9600M GS (83vm-x2) seems to be running way too hot.

I just picked up one of these guys pretty cheap for ~$500.

From basic web browsing I'm hitting 70c on the 9600M GS and my processor is hitting 60C.

These numbers seem way too hot considering that I'm not doing anything particularly significant. I haven't tested the temperatures extensively yet-- what do you guys recommend?

I'm feeling as though the performance drops significantly with the heat-- window movements feels less snappy, etc.

Is there any good non-obtrusive software for testing the healthiness of a box?

    Fantastic!

I went ahead and tried the CPUID Hardware Monitor in conjunction with Furmark-- not the best scores, but in stability testing my CPU maxed at 70 and my GPU maxed at 83.

Which is definitely healthy-- I think my rig just idles high, but after the high speed fan kicks in the temps cap off pretty well.

    One thing I'm curious about--

Should my video card be able to handle 1080p without a hitch? For some reason I felt that it would run perfectly smooth- but watching some stuff (I haven't optimized anything yet and it was a high compression video file that may have not been encoded perfectly) I've noticed some slight hiccups- I think I can remove all the problems via software optimizations, but seeing as my machine is a refurb I just want to make sure it's performing properly before my trial period is up.
