As per my sig, I bought an Asus Z96Js years back. After using it quite intensively over the years, it's time for an upgrade. My brother needs a laptop so I'll be giving it to him as a hand me down, so it won't go to waste ;)

Now, as the topic goes, monitor resolutions. I've been browsing different models released over the years and many of them have odd screen resolutions. How is it my Z96Js can have a resolution of 1680x1050 as does my friends G1S yet same size laptops being released this year, Asus specfically, have lower resolution? Are they cheaping out on us?

They probably don't sell that many of them to make it worth while. There certainly are other notebooks offering WSXGA+ resolution if that's what you prefer.

ASUS still has 15.4" 1680x1050 resolutions. Look for G50Vt and M50Vm models...

But I don't think they are as popular as lower resolutions since not everybody has 20/20 vision...
