    Laptop shutting off when bumped or moved

    My friend has a laptop that runs great when sitting still. But, when he moves or bumps it, it will shut completely off. What is going on?

    Hi, check if power connector stays at place or moving, i think there is problem.

    If it's a power problem, the computer would just go off immediately. I think the OP is saying that the laptop goes through the windows shutdown procedure, right?

    No. It just shuts off. It doesn't go through any kind of shutdown process.

    remove power lead and boot on battery. does it work ok?

    remove battery and plug in power lead and boot up. does it work ok?

    Probably bad contact. We have a customer that has the same issue (coincidence? ;)). I don't know if the system has been received for RMA inspection just yet though, so no results.
