Hello, I have a 15.6" laptop that runs 1920x1080 natively and also have an HDTV that also claims to run at 1080p, but when I put in my HDMI cable, I get a cropped image on my HDTV that has the corners cut out. In addition, the image is stretched and looks poor because of the cropping. I'm certain my drivers are fine and updated, and I haven't been able to find any settings that make a difference. Does anyone know why?

Try look for a 1:1 pixel stretch mode in your TV's settings. Maybe a PC mode.
Otherwise you can try adjust from within AMD/ATI Catalyst Control Center. -
I've played around with the features in both the Intel and ATI graphics controller settings and nothing I've tried has fixed the problem. It seems like a overscan problem but my version of CCC doesn't have correction settings as far as I know

Its almost definitely your overscan setting, just need to find it and if your drivers for some reason do not have it, change drivers.

My own AMD Radeon HD 6970m does that too, its "shrinking" the image to compensate for HDTVs buildt in overscan features.
That would be fine but my 37" LG has an option to display 1:1 pixel ratio and it does give a better picture displaying stuff in native resolution.
There is a option in Catalyst where to can control the underscan / overscan ratio and by default this is set to 85%.
Once disabled it will be 100% meaning the full image is being transfered.
On my Ion nettop this is different, here the overscan / underscan is disabled by default.
I would read the link here as it shows how to do it on the current Catalyst suite. -
The manual for a similar model (EQ2487F) shows a couple of possibilities:

1) There's an "HDMI/PC" button on the remote. Not sure if that just switches between HDMI and VGA though.
2) Page 12 lists a setting for "Screen Mode: In HDMI source, to select screen mode Video or PC mode."
