some VGA Cables are like $30-$60 something dollars and
I really don't want to buy the wrong cable.

oh and another thing can VGA Cable give out sound from
a laptop to the LCD TV ?

There should be an S-video output on the laptop, but you can convert VGA to RCA if you need to. And none of those will carry sound, they're video outputs.

The TV should have an audio input socket. Figure out what type of socket that is and then get a cable to connect to the headphone socket on your notebook.

    jibberish :)

if you are connecting ure notebook with LCD or any TV you realise that the TV have for example AV 1, AV 2, AV XY, some have HDMI channel and in my case the USB channel aswell. Now if you connect youre notebook with a S-video out cable youre picture will be on one channel for example S-video. but the sound will be on AV 1 or AV 2 depending on which slot you plugged in the Red and White pins on the audio cable. So there is no way for you to get both picture and sound unless you can do it with a single cable. Example HDMI, or the usual cable from the comp to the screen. I am not sure if the S-video out supports sound.

This gave me alot of problems. I did it like this. Connected it thru the HDMI port. Bought the 2.1 system from BOSE and now both TV and the Notebook play sound from the Bose.

Anyway i could be wrong :)

I was assuming that this TV has a VGA port as previously discussed. In this case I would expect the TV to take audio from the audio port (RCA?) when it is getting video input from the VGA port.

However, without knowing the exact model number and consulting the manual then I could be wrong.

in my case, i just use a regular vga cable...the same ones that come with a desktop monitor. my tv then has below the vga input, a pc speaker input (3.5mm jack), so all that is needed for sound is a 3.5mm male to male cable. some other tv's may use the red and white cable instead. but you CAN do video and sound at the same time. I would avoid s-video if you can, it is a much lower quality.
