    Hi everyone,

I have an old Gateway T-1631 laptop that I recently converted from Windows to Lubuntu. It has an HDMI port so I tried to connect it to a Panasonic Viera smart TV through the TV's HDMI2 port. HDMI1 connects the TV with a cable box. When I access the HDMI2 link using the TV remote the screen shows I am in HDMI2 but there is no image on the TV screen, just black with the HDMI2 indicator visible. I tried toggling monitors with the laptop's F4 key but nothing happens. I assume my configuration is incorrect. The laptop resolution is set at 1280x800. Any ideas about how to get this working? Thanks.

I've heard of Lubuntu only in passing, but my perspective is you didn't convert to that O/S, you downgraded. :)

If you haven't installed proper drivers for your notebook then the toggling you think you're doing probably isn't doing anything (as you're seeing).

Can you go into the settings and choose another monitor directly?
