I have a compaq which acts really bizarre when typing.. it will randomly jump the cursor around in a body of text.. If I type out a paragraph sometimes it will hop to the very beginning of the paragraph and mess up my sentences or jump smack in the middle of a body of text and I'm not sure why its acting like this..

The other question is how can I tell what type of ram I need for this laptop if I were to upgrade.. It has two 512 sticks as is..I would like to get 2 gigs either a single 2 gig stick or 2 single gig sticks will work..

Is your palm rubbing against the touchpad when typing? My Compaq was doing the same thing until I disabled the touchpad.

As for the ram upgrade, which model Compaq do you have?

Are you using the trackpad or a mouse?

There should be online memory sellers in your country that can identify the type of RAM you need and the maximum upgradeable capacity.

What model is your laptop anyways?

Not sure on model will check..

however, its not the touchpad.. we have already tried disabling it.

Even if touchpad is unusable.. the cursor still jumps.
