    :) Hi all.
This is my first post here, but believe me i have read up on past laptop or desktop mods or upgrades and have built plenty of performance systems and dissasembled a half dozen laptops.
I have built 4.8ghz sandybridge of late and support my Teenage sons i5 4ghz ssd equiped 6970 gaming pc.

BUT ...my laptop experience is limited to better cooling , hdd replacement...the simpler things , I havnt fully started to comprehend the finers of lappy chipset abilities ect.

My latest endevour Started with my wifes Sony Vaio dropping an aging 120gig hdd. Because of the unfortunate flooding for the affected people and hdd market and the fact that i had no spare 2.5hdds available ,I decided a SSD upgrade was called for , bought a crucial 64gb m4 c400 and installed with a fresh win vista 32 os, tweaked it out for win 7 fashion and applied all ssd tweaks (ssd tweaker , easier). Runs really nice and alot quicker than the original!
So now i am hooked, with the speed i am impressed , read and writes are slightly above what even sata 3.0 max is supposed to be!
Soooo now i have a intel x25m 80gb on its way for my 5920g...I am also seriously considering a pair of t8300 cpus for these laptops.
I know my 5920g intel 965 will support this t8300,
BUT will the gl40 equiped Sony vgn-ns110e truely support this t8300?
The intel 965>gl40 era and support for these and the peyrn> cantiga >memron is a confusing mess for cpu upgrades , some will , some wont , I understand both laptops are socket p and 478 PIN but again?

After lots of hours spent investigating and reading I am still In favor of a t8300 working in both laptops and am going for it .
I am looking for the largest performance gain in the acer 5920g ,as a ssd and a cpu upgrade will really wake up this pc with win 7 support , although it performs fine for my htpc usage it would be nice even to have the faster boot up time .
Well this is my rant , and where my head is at right now .
I wanted to post and see if anyone has tried a t8300 in sony vaio/gl40 and to thank All of you who post on this forum , It has been a wealth of knowledge for me at times concerning laptop trouble . :notworthy:

    Thanks 3fee
I had read this and it does indicate some success with the peyrn t8### and T9### ...but it still appeared manufacturer firmware based?...or biosed ,lol, excuse the pun...I am gonna give it a shot and will post in upgrades for both Laptops when completed and tested, I am cheap tho , and still am looking at t7### series memron to fill the need , hotter but tweaked with speedstep it could be power and cooler , just without some peyrn intructions , cost dependant...watchin e-bay.Would rather have a peyrn 800mhz , and t8300 seems the cost/performance choice. :D

Well, Both the acer 5920g and the Vaio vgn-ns110e are now upgraded to the peyrn t8300 cpu!, yayy...too easy on both , arctic silver 5 applied and the temp reduction has to be the greatest differance.
the 5920 is idling at 29 now , was 33 loaded on prime it maxes out at 54!
The sony vaio was a hottie at 41 idle and 80 loaded with the old t3200, Now it idles at 29 and loaded only reaches 56...Acpi on both is also down from 81 to 72 on both lappys!
The performance differance is noticable on both , especially the Vaio ,with the c4 ssd...pc mark05 score went from 6370 to 7556!
Wei score for Vista went from 4.9 to 5.4 on this gl40 chipset Vaio if that matters to anyone.
Overall I am pleased . Cant wait to instal the Intel x-25 ssd in the 5920g.
With these updates these laptops have become very user friendly , quick laptops.
