Hi I just had a question for those that have experience with laptops that have subwoofers.

First of all, how's the sound quality? :) I wanted to know how intense the vibrations can get, and if they would interfere or be an annoyance when gaming/working w/music.

I would also like to know how detrimental it is to the system. It seems like all that added vibration may knock some components loose or damage the computer over time in a general sense. Does anyone have any experience or knowledge of these things? I have been looking into the new MSI GT725 and 727 models, and if the 4 speakers+sub provides better sound quality without causing much interference, I think I would go for that model.

    Thanks!

I don’t own one, but I have listened to a couple of notebooks with subwoofers, A Toshiba Qosmio 17” notebook and an Acer aspire 17” (can’t remember the exact model names, but the Toshiba was a top of the line expensive entertainment notebook with built in tuners, HDDVD etc..). They sounded better than the normal crappy notebook speakers, but I wasn’t impressed at all, not even as good as a low end $30 2.1 speaker system. Which is not surprising given the tiny speaker size.

Ive got a 1.5" sub in mine. It rumbles quite a bit when its being used. Keep in mind I have a very thick laptop, so a thinner laptop will either have a smaller subwoofer or more vibrations.

The sub actually emits like 70% of the noise from my laptop, so without it the sound qualty is pretty bad.
