Hey all, I wasn't sure where else to put this, Hardware seemed most appropriate. Are there any laptops already out with the 4950HQ or 4960HQ processors, with Iris Pro? I've gotten really interested in Iris Pro's capabilities in a portable laptop lately, but I've only seen the 4750HQ (Clevo W740SU) which doesn't have the mHz for the applications I need. Thanks guys!

You could always grab a 4900MQ+dGpu, dont see why you want Iris so badly, it is just a GT640M with poor drivers (compared to Nvidia).
The Thinkpad T440p (when it comes out) will support the 4900MQ and will have a GT730M, which should give you what you are looking for.
As for battery life, there is Optimus. -
Alternatively, like Jobine said, you could go with something that has a dGPU in it if you are doing a lot of rendering stuff. -
Sorry, I didn't get back earlier. I run a DJ application regularly on a radio shwo and basic manipulation of waveforms is noticeably skewed when it runs at 2.2Ghz. Forcing it into TurboBoost using throttlestop somewhat alleviates the problem, which leads me to believe that it's a clock cycle issue. It isn't bad, just I care about audio quality enough that I want to get it fixed ASAP though >.<
I'm not sure whether it's really a clock issue though; i.e. I don't know if the fact that Haswell is naturally faster than Sandy Bridge regardless of clock speed will alleviate the problem or not.
I was particularly interested in Iris Pro because it takes one more thing out of the equation, and I thought it would be easier to find a "mainstream" model with decent aesthetics and possibly even a touchscreen, as it seems to be the trend with non-dGPU laptops. I have a 550M running on an Optimus system right now and am very happy with it, just was wondering whether any manufacturers had taken advantage of Iris Pro yet as I have yet to find one :S
edit:: side note, I just realized that the Macbook Pro's have 4950HQ's as an option....
rrrrrgh I told myself I wouldn't get one of those thoughmaverick1989 likes this. -
Sager NP2740 (Clevo W740SU) has the i7-4750HQ. But I also wouldn't recommend an HQ CPU. It's overpriced for what you get. Any Haswell you get will be significantly faster. Plus the i7-4700MQ can overclock +200MHz, 4800MQ +400MHz, and 4900MQ +600MHz using Intel's Xtreme Tuning Utility.

Karamazovmm Overthinking? Always!
yep, you are done for, only apple offers those, and its the 4750HQ, 4850HQ and the 4960HQ

I didn't know the MQs were capable of slight overclocking though. Does this void the warranty? -

I believe the 4700HQ has the same 2 overclocking bins as the MQ. Main differences with 4700HQ being BGA and having VT-d.

Hello there.
I don't know if this is the right place to post or not But i see that People here really are intelligent so i might get the advise and answer I am looking for,
I m looking to buy a laptop that is fast and can handle games. I don't want the laptop to be freezing or getting stuck in the middle of game or application that I might be running and I would like to also to multitask. Please any advise which is a good laptop out there and affordable I know Allienware but they r way too expensive and other ideas that can beat Allienware or similar to it? A FAST LAPTOP WITH GOOD FAST GRAPHIC AND VIDEO CARD AND A GOOD CONTRASS SCREEN WITH BACKLIT KEYBOARD.
Thanks for all those who will take their time to help me out.. -

tilleroftheearth Wisdom listens quietly...
With 'good', 'fast', 'expensive' 'can handle games' doesn't mean anything here.
What is your budget? What games do you play? What other workloads do you intend this system to perform?
Flesh out the above details if you really want this answered.
Laptops with 4950HQ or 4960HQ?
