I am no help to you but I am in the same boat and I'm hoping msi will come out with turionX2 notebooks with either a x700 256 or x1600 256 video card. Then I will be a happy camper. Much waiting has to be done thats for darn sure.

There arent any specific models from the major manufacturers, but expect H/Compaq, Acer to have some models by the time the X2 Turions become available. Most of the current manufacturers who offer AMD's should also be out with Turion dual cores. MSI roadmaps seem to indicate some of their models with the X2's(check the MSI forum for specifics).

I would expect laptops with X2's sometime late May/early June or even earlier depending on the manufacturer.

Currently HP/Compaq, Gateway(retail models only), Emachines, Acer, Fujitsu & Averatec offer AMD based systems.

I read somewhere on this forum that the X2 should be competitive with the Intel core duo. I am just hoping they come out quickly; I am looking at the HP dv8000z which uses AMD, but could gain some major points in my book by switching to dual core.

They should a bit cheaper than the Core Duo's(whatever the price might be at the time of launch). AMD tends to usually price their mobile cpu's slightly lower than comparable Intels. As usual with any new product expect the price to drop a few months after the launch.

I have so far never seen AMD prices to be higher or the same as those of Intel's

Athlon64 X2's are priced higher than Pentium D's. Although you can argue that peformance is much better compared to the P-D's and the cost of a good quality Intel MB is higher than an a similar AMD based motherboard.
