I've been hearing that many brands of newer laptops have had the stereo mix capability removed by the manufacturer. This is essential to my daily use, so I am wondering what brands still keep this feature. I know that some companies are legally required to disable it, but I know that some laptops still have this.
Anyone know which particular brands or models still have stereo mix?

My Clevo P170HMx still has stereo mix available according to Windows 7 Sound.
But its a integrated Realtek HD audio card. -
What do you mean by stereo mix?

Stereo mix is an option that let's you record what the computer hears. Many newer laptops have this disabled due to pressure from the music industry. You can check if you have it by going to sound options in control panel, then checking recording devices and right click and select show disabled devices.

There are plenty of utilities that let you do this.
Stop obsessing about conspiracies by the big bad corporations and start searching for solutions. Google is your friend. -
I am able to enable it when I right click recording device in my Aspire5610z.

On the other hand, corporations are making recording breaking profits while I'm on my way to the poor farm. What are we consumers doing wrong? One link is worth a thousand words.
