Higher density is good for performance, but anything less than 5400 RPM is just unacceptable these days when such better performance can be attained.

It is nice to see larger laptop hard drives. I am really looking forward to two or three years from now when SSDs will replace my need for a standard drive and most of my data can simply be offloaded to a terabyte USB 3.5" drive.

My point was that the 4200RPM Toshiba in that test performed VERY closely to the 5400RPM 160GB drives. Statements like what you just made are not grounded in the reality of the perpendicular recording drive performance metrics.

I run a 4200rpm drive and notice almost know difference between it and my 10,000rpm drive in my desktop. I still don't know why people think that 4200rpm is a bad thing, I have had no problems as of yet with any drive.

While I am as excited about SSD's for my next HDD as you are, I don't think the cost will come down quickly enough to justify getting one for my next laptop (in a couple of years).
