The graphics cards are the same. The Express Card and PC Card slots allow you to add peripherals to your notebook that slide into the slot. Remotes, mobile broadband cards, and Firewire cards are some of the things that you can use with the slots. Express Card has replaced PC Card slots as the dominant format, but as Express Card isn't backwards compatable with PC Card, Dell (and others) continue to give a choice as there are still plenty of PC Card peripherals out there.

    Exactly!
Basically, ExpressCard Slots and PCMIA Slots offer better latency then USB/Firewire.

As booboo stated, there are many uses for the slots including firewire cards, broadband cards etc.

ExpressCard is the newer format BUT it seems it is easier to find some peripherals in the older PCMIA format.

Expresscard is newer and PC-Card is slowly becoming less common.

If you don't know what it is, then my advice would be to just get Expresscard, since it is newer and if you need to use it in a year or two it will be the current format.
