    Hello,

I have a Dell Latitude E6430 that does not have a backlit keyboard and also has the center pointing stick. I never use the pointing stick or the three mouse buttons that are supposed to be used with it.

Here is what it currently looks like: http://www.laptopmag.com/images/uploads/3371/g/Dell_Latitude_E6430_G16.jpg

My question is... Can I upgrade the keyboard to a back lighted keyboard without the center pointing device, and also upgrade the bezel trim to remove the three mouse buttons?

Here are the items I am looking at:

New Dell Latitude E6430 E5430 E6330 Laptop Keyboard JD6K8 (no center pointing stick)

New Dell Latitude E6430 Single Control Covers HHY8F (remove the three mouse buttons)

Will this work out or will the hardware for the center pointing stick and also the three mouse buttons stop the new keyboard and bezel from fitting properly?

    Thank you for your assistance!

If you want the mouse buttons gone, you will need to take off the entire palmrest and remove the ZIF cable.

Yes this was my own E6430.

Thank you for the very detailed response. So, the entire palm rest would have to come off because where the ZIF cable disconnects is hidden underneath? Or did you mean just the bezel would have to come off...

    Thanks again!

I actually just watched a youtube video of a E6420 dissemble and I see why the palm rest needs to be removed now. The cable for the top mouse buttons runs underneath and gets removed with the buttons. Thank you!
