hi, i have recently bought a lenovo ideapad 100-15iby, its an ok bit of kit but a bit slow, when i click on file explorer i get a spinning wheel for 10secs or so and takes forever for the window to open.
i want expecting it to be super fast as i know its only a basic laptop really, i was just wondering if there is anything i can do to squeeze a bit more performance out of it?
ive just got a samsung 860 EVO 500gb SSD that ill be fitting this evening and will be installing windows 7 as i have had a few computers with 7 and i find its flawless, 10 on the other hand i hate lol.
i know the RAM maxes out at 8gb on these (which is what i have) but was wondering if putting an 8gb DDR4 3200MHz card would be possible/would help speed things up abit?
i dont know a huge amount about computers and dont know whether it would be compatible or not :/

any advice would be greatly appreciated :)

sorry i think im about to answer my own question but would still be good to have others opinions/experience haha from what ive just read it will only run as fast as my processor can keep up with. my processor is 2.16GHz so presumibly if i put a 3.2GHz RAM card it it will still only run at 2.16GHz?

I think that IdeaPad is a DDR3 machine. And it's forever single channel since it only has one RAM slot. So, a DDR4 3200Mhz won't work. An SSD might help it further, though. But that's about it.

The max is 8GB 1600MHz DDR3L, so no unfortunately.

Likely can get a 2133Mhz DDR3 So-DIMM but probably not worth chasing it down versus a 1600CL9 So-Dimm

    saturnotaku and Vasudev like this.
