Impossible. The GPU's on the Lenovo Ideapads are soldered on the motherboard. There is no MXM slot that allows for upgrading GPU's. So it is not possible in terms of how the laptop was designed.

As stated above, 98% of laptops sold today have GPU soldered onto the motherboard and there is no upgrading it besides changing out the entire motherboard. Pretty much only gaming laptops and high end business class mobile workstations will have MXM or some form of upgradable GPUs.

The IdeaPad y710, y730 and y530 use MXM but not upgradeable to the 485m :p

Does the Y530 use a proprietary MXM slot design like the ASUS G-Series?

    No it does not.
I don't have any experience with those models, I just know they use standard MXM cards. There could be some BIOS whitelisting like on the w700 which prevents overclocking.

If it is just a BIOS limitation, one just need a good BIOS modder to unlock it them. Either way, I am surprised Lenovo did work with MXM on Ideapads before. Too bad they went with everyone else trends starting with the Y550 by doing GPU integration on the system board.

Even if it is possible (in another dimension), you'd have instantaneous combustion lol. The Y560 is only designed to (barely) sustain the ATI 5730 thermally.

That is true... Also the stock PSU Adapter won't be able to feed all that power to it either.
