Is it worth $295 to order a T420 or T520 with SSD?
Why does the SSD option have such relatively low storage capacity?
-
What size SSD? Manufacturer's charge a lot of money for SSD upgrades when you can buy them much cheaper from Newegg.
SSD's have such low capacity because they use flash memory and not spinning platters. That is just how they are designed. -
They are listed as:
128 GB Solid State Drive, Serial ATA @ $180
Intel 160 GB Solid State Drive, Serial ATA @ $210
So, do they bottom-line function as well as higher GB disks? -
$180 for 128gb isn't bad.
The crucial m4 is $170 for 128gb. Is it worth it to you to have a SSD in your computer is the next question. -
My edit didn't take before your reply. "So, do they bottom-line function as well as higher GB disks?"
Yes, is it worth it operationally? They do use less power as well I understand. -
A SSD is generally 10-100x faster than a standard hard drive. They also last longer (8+ years) on average.
A SSD allows for faster booting into Windows, faster program opening, faster saving files, etc. -
Thanks. I'll spend the extra $30 and get the Intel @ 160GB
Lenovo SSD option?
